Technical Youth Enablement as National Security
JANUARY 2024•ENGR. ISAAC DAVID BALAMI
In insurgency-affected regions such as Borno State and the broader Northeast, youth unemployment is not merely an economic issue—it is a critical national security concern.
Through the Isaac Balami Foundation, we have provided over 1,000 vocational enablement starter kits in tailoring, mechanics, coding, and carpentry to displaced youths. When young people acquire tangible technical skills and financial independence, violent extremism loses its recruitment appeal.
Empowering the youth with technical skills is the ultimate strategy for national security and peacebuilding.
